Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs: Proverbs 19: 8

Proverbs 19:8,
“He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good. “

This passage tells us that anyone who loves his own soul seeks and gains wisdom.  They treat wisdom with honor and by doing so, they bring honor to their soul. Not only does the one who seeks wisdom benefit, but those that are around them benefit and find comfort for their own souls as wisdom is dispensed upon them. People who cherish understanding and wisdom prosper in life.  As you read this don’t assume that the word “prosper” is talking about financial prosperity; even though that may be true as God blesses you monetarily, but the word prosper means that it will go well with your soul. When we keep his statutes and commandments and abide in His Word not only will we prosper but our children and the generations that follow will prosper for the legacy that we leave them through our faith in Christ (see Deuteronomy 4:39-41).

Once again I turn your thoughts to Psalms 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” To gain this wisdom, we simply need to abide, delight our self in the law of the LORD and meditate upon His Word day and night.

Prayer:  LORD, your word tells us to teach others the things we have learned from your Word; we are to be an example to all believers in what we say, in the way we live, in our love, our faith, and our purity. We are to be focused on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them. We are not to neglect the spiritual gift we received and we are to give our complete attention to these matters in the Word and living a life that seeks after wisdom. So this day, as we set forth, we want to share the life we’ve found in you and seek to be wise in understanding; so that those we come into contact with will find the life we have found through Christ.  In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Abiding still
