Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs- Proverbs 12

Proverbs 12:15

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.”

Have you ever been confronted with a heated conversation or a letter of contempt and you wanted to respond with indignation and a speedy approach to righteous indignation to justify yourself or clear up their misunderstanding?

Wait; don’t respond so quickly, instead, hearken to the counsel of the Holy Spirit. Often, when confronted in a moment of heat we cannot see our own faults and we become as the fool who sees only that we are right. Then words or thought are expressed and more damage is done by our “flesh” reply. Even though it felt good to “get it off our chest” for the moment, we are still foolish to follow after this line of folly.

Instead, if we do not respond right away, and we seek God’s counsel, whether through Godly instruction of mature Christians, or from God’s Word, we will find wisdom to be our guide and the results will be a righteous response. Sometimes the response is no response at other times, we will be called upon by our Lord to give a response that quickens the soul of the offender; but we must not take this upon ourselves to respond without first seeking counsel lead by the LORD.

Wisdom is precious when we listen.
