Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs- Meet my mom!

PowellVist059 Hello Friends!

I am excited to introduce you to my Mother, Connie Renfro. As you’ve read through posts on the blog I share a special friendship with both of my parents. I am delighted to have momma join me online by sharing with each of us “A Moment in Proverbs”. She will be writing to us as the Lord allows. I know that Momma has written up a short introduction of what she will be sharing, and I will post that down below, however, let me first tell you a little bit about her.

Momma lights up a room with the graciousness of God! She is truly my best friend after my dear Joe. We have grown together as mother/daughter but most importantly as Sisters! I didn’t always have a wonderful relationship with my parents (as I have shared in previous posts) because of sin and rebellion in my own life. I found myself in my early 20’s separated from their favor and while I longed to have the relationship restored I first had to come to a point of repentance. I had to stop looking at all their shortcomings, blaming them for my trials, and I had to take sole responsibility to walk in obedience before the Lord. In doing that, I discovered that HE can and will restore ALL that the locus had eaten. It was a heart transformation that I had to walk through. It wasn’t my parents that had to change… it was me! When I started to become accountable before God and walk humbly before Him my life changed, my relationships changed, I changed!! Oh, I KNOW that God changed them too. I have heard of their heart cry, the prayers, the wrestling with “what to do” when their daughter was walking in sin. I know that God drew them closer to Him and gave them the strength to make those hard decisions that presented themselves. What a joy to know that God allowed them to not only see their daughter return home, much like the prodigal son, but to enjoy the relationship, the friendship, the fruit of their hands!

Momma has battled cancer this year. Not one type of cancer but three! She had surgery and radiation for breast cancer at the beginning of this year and still faces more surgery in the future. She is weaker than she use to be but no less joyful! She KNOWS and lives out the testimony that she has been bought with a price… she is not her own!

Momma delights in her children and grandchildren. Quite often you will hear her telling them stories of times past. Sharing testimonies of what God has taught her when she was younger or even what He showed her yesterday! Both Momma and Daddy invest themselves 100% in their family. They work with us, play with us, cry with us, rejoice with us but most importantly PRAY with us and for us! When we are together, we all do our Bible Study together as a family. What  a blessing our time together is!

Please welcome my Momma as she comes to share with us! I pray you are blessed as she shares with you!

With much Love,

Mrs. Joseph Wood

From Momma:

Greeting Sisters,

This is a new feature in Moments with Mom and I’m honored to share with you those things the Lord has placed upon my heart.

As I was asked to pray about this offering before the Lord, I was drawn to the relationship between Father and Son (King David and King Solomon) and the sharing of God’s Word as Solomon grew into a wise man to rule the same people his father ruled. I thought on how there may have been moments of correction, moments of sharing and moments of learning, not only from father to son, but son to father.

I too, find moments of sharing, correction and learning with my daughter as we spend time in the word; I learn from her and she learns from me. It is in times such as these that the scripture comes to mind from Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. “

So as we begin this Moment in Proverbs together, let us come together and learn from one another as we’re instructed in 2Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Abiding Still.
