Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs- Proverbs 1:7-9

Let us look to the instruction of the father to the son (King David to King Solomon) as he instructed his people. Psalms 1 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

As we Study Proverbs, you will see how often Solomon reflects on this precious Psalms that his father taught him. I encourage you to do the same as you read through the Proverbs.

Today’s Moment in Proverbs is Proverbs 1: 7-9 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.”

Solomon understood the importance of knowing God, listening to his father and honoring his mother through the Word of God. As we study this passage today, let us be cheerful in seeking and trusting him and we will be blessed as we meditate and delight in the law of the LORD.

Abiding Still.
