Hello Friends!
Well, this cow chasing, home schoolin, bee hive checking, goat milking, lamb lovin, garden grower, horse hugging, wife and mother is stepping into the wacky world of weight loss! Okay, so maybe most of you don’t think of weight loss as a wacky idea but for me, I’ve never really understood it. I mean with as busy as I am I just figure my body knows that this extra fluff is needed. After all it does break a fall, provide extra cushion to the cuddling child, and softens the blow from the ram that I forgot to locate when I walked out to pasture. However, after great evaluation and a little encouragement from my Joe and Bekah (okay A LOT of encouragement) I am going to start a reasonable weight loss program that I feel I can live with. Isn’t that the key? Learning to live with life choices that bring about good health?
Bekah has encouraged me to start blogging about the journey and being “REAL” about the process. I’ll still be posting notes about mothering, farming and life as “me” however, on a regular basis I will post about the weight loss journey as real as my pride will let me. If this is a complete bore to you feel free to go to your next destination in cyberspace however, if you’re curious what a cow chasing, home schooling, bee hive checking, goat milking, lamb lovin, garden grower, horse hugging, wife and mother looks like on a weight loss program… then join me for the fun! To be honest with you, I have no idea how this will turn out. Perhaps I won’t lose a lb! Or maybe, just maybe, I will reach my goal! Only time will tell!
If you’ve ever used a weight loss program I would love to hear from you. If you have helpful tips speak up! I want all the tips (of course the ones that work) that you have to offer! Bekah has ideas for photos, videos (Oh, my!) and other fun ideas to share this real moment with you! So, come join me for the journey! It’s sure to be LOADS of fun!
With much love,
Mrs. Joseph Wood

I have been doing WW for about a year now. I love it and I make sure to call it a lifestyle change and not a diet. I wanted my children to also learn about healthy choices and to be an example to them. I have loved it! I am only 3 pounds from my goal weight! You will do great! thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhooohoooo! 3lbs from your goal weight after a year is wonderful, realistic, and empowering! Thanks for sharing! Congratulations! Keep up the great work! Let me know when you reach your goal, would love to celebrate with you!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,

Hi! I'm on Weight Watchers and have been since July. I love it and I blog about my journey at http://thickinandthinnin.blogspot.com/ It's very real and not always pretty, but it's been extremely helpful to me in my weight loss journey. I do WW online and love it. It's hard to lose weight and I feel as you do that being a homesteader and losing weight do not go hand in hand. I have a picture in my head that I should look like Mrs. Clause, all soft and cuddly, but it isn't healthy for me to look like that so I've got to do something. I even include before and after photos. Very theraputic and freeing. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteTips that work: chain the refrigerator, put locks on the cupboards, have someone else do the shopping, have somone else do the cooking, have someone else do the eating...seriously, I remember a young woman responding to her mother who has struggled with obesity most of her life, saying, "Perhaps God is calling you to discipline"...and that mother, saying, "I don't think so......" We laughed but it's the honest, most powerful tool we have. Discipline will get you further than any new diet gimmick. Find what works for you and stay the course, just as you have raised 10 wonderful children through being disciplined, begin your journey to good health through discipline...now about your momma, it still applies, "Perhaps God is calling all of us to discipline." I'm in your corner, praying, and encouraging you. May God's hand be upon you during this journey. I look forward to healthier days ahead for you and myself.
ReplyDeleteMuch love dear punkin,
Momma
Wow, I can't believe that today my dear sweet husband of forty-three years told me I needed to lose a few pounds so I can be with him longer. And then I read this post about WW's. I really don't know if I can do this, but if ya'll are going to try so am I. After all, we are to be a good example to others. Not surfeiting when He comes.
ReplyDeleteJeanne, keep in touch! I would love to hear about your journey to health too! What a precious and loving husband that he wants you full of health and for many years to come! I know my Joe gently encourages me to rememeber we have LOTS to do for the Glory of God and don't want our weight/health holding us back!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
