I am thankful for the Lord's tender Mercy! My boy is home!!
Ezekiel was admitted to a nearby hospital that has a reputation for being the "best". After going through our experience with them I can tell you that they did a WONDERFUL job! There is nothing I would have asked them to do differently! They were tender to my boy, aware of not only his physical needs but emotional needs as well. Ezekiel is a little one that was born from our hearts. Prior to the Lord bringing him to us he went through some very horrific experiences in which hospitalization was required. For this 11 year old boy, those experiences have etched a scar deep in his heart. He has went through much counseling, prayer and tender support as he traveled through the healing process. If you met him you might never know what lies underneath the smile. God's healing has been tremendous! Being in a hospital setting, under emergency conditions was enough to rip that scar open again and I found myself talking him through the process. As a mommy it was heart wrenching to walk with him through it. I wanted desperately to take the fear, anxiety and memories away. I did all I could do. Prayed, talked with him for hours, taked with staff and then prayed more! God was faithful. God was with us! The staff was awesome! They understood- they didn't "over" do it making it worse and they didn't ignore his need either! As I drove away from the hospital, Ezekiel and I both prayed giving thanks for each and every person that God had handpicked to be part of his care while we were there!
Almost as soon as Ezekiel was buckled in his seat belt, his smile returned and his everyday sparkle glistened in his eyes! There is no place like home! It feels so good to be here with our family complete! Ezekiel slept well through the night. His humor is back to normally. Making jokes about being "nuts" since he has pins in his hips now. He has also been joking with his siblings about "taking his legs off" as he removes the leg rests on his wheelchair. It feels good to be home! This morning Ezekiel wanted to do something to help the family so we set up a work station for him to be able to make his "famous pancakes". He was pretty impressed with himself and said, "Oh ya! The worlds best pancakes from a wheelchair." I guess the wheelchair adds some flavor to them I wasn't aware of? ;-)
Thank you to everyone who sent notes of encouragement, the many prayers, children who told their parents they wanted to come and do Ezekiel's chores, friends who sent jokes via text message, others who offered to drive over to us and bring a meal. Words can not express the love we felt and the thanks we gave for each of you! The body of Christ was amazing in how they immediately went to work making sure we were okay! THANK YOU!!
On behalf of the entire Wood family, We thank you and pray that God will repay to you 100 fold for all you did and were willing to do for us!
With much love,
Mrs. Joseph Wood
Ezekiel is giving Hannah rides around the house. His wheelchair has a seatbelt so she is fastened in. He's been talking with daddy about "rigging" his chair up to have a horn (to honk at those of us that get in his way) and a 'headlight' (so he can make his way to the bathroom at night). He calls himself "mater" from the Cars film since he loves going backwards! :-)
Wow - Ezekiel, I can't believe that just 24 hours ago you were in surgery and now you are blessing your family with your pancakes! God is so good! :)
