Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment In Proverbs: Proverbs 11:30

Proverbs 11:30,
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”

Let’s look at the fruit of righteousness today.  I was taken by this phrase as I read the Word.  Here are a few passages for us to consider this day as we spend time with the LORD.

We learn through His Word that we are filled with the fruit of righteousness when our love abounds. “And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God (see Philippians 1:9-11).”  When we share the truth with others, our love abounds toward them and they receive the tree of life which is in Christ Jesus.

The fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; it proves what is acceptable unto to LORD and we grow in wisdom as we cultivate this fruit in our lives.  The fruit of righteousness is also sown in peace by those that make peace because the fruit of righteousness is wisdom, it is pure, peaceable, gentle, full of mercy, without partiality and without hypocrisy (See James 3:17-18). As we turn our hearts toward God and lead others to the LORD; we are being fruitful for the Kingdom of Heaven. And according to our passage for today, “He that wins souls is wise.”

Prayer:  Father, teach us how to win souls for you.  Give us a desire to bear the fruit of righteousness and gain wisdom through your encouraging Word.  LORD, as your Word ministers to our hearts and minds, help us to share it with others, so that we too can be “fishers of men.”  In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Abiding Still,
