Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment In Proverbs: Proverbs 10:20-21

Proverbs 10:20-21,
“The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.”

Today’s questions:  Are you well nourished or are you starving?  Are those around you nourished or are they starving?

Even though we may not have monetary riches to feed the poor, we do have riches through the Word of God.  It’s is by sharing those riches that we are nourished and those among us are nourished.  Our sharing of God’s word is like sharing choice silver; it is sincere and free from dross or sinful design.  Those who speak God’s words and are faithful are fast disappearing.  We don’t challenge each other to be accountable with our words.  Neighbors lie to each other, flattering words and deceitful hearts are exchanged over the phones, as we walk in the streets and as we come to work; instead of sharing the Word of life and the truth spoken in love. The LORD will bring each of us to accountability for what we did or did not say. His promises are pure, His Word is like silver refined in a furnace and purified seven times (See Psalms 12).

So again, I ask, are you well nourished or are you starving?  Have you picked up His Word and filled your heart today?  Have you set His word upon the doorposts of your homes?  Have you fed His Word to your children, your spouse, and your family members? Or is everyone starving without the Word of God?

To those whose hearts are clinging to this world, they will find only empty souls.  They speak of earthly things and they do not understand nor wish to understand the things of God. They are caught up in tickling of the ears and speaking flattering words to get them by.  They have little worth because they have found nothing of value to store in their minds or hearts (2Timothy 3:1-9).  Their storeroom is empty.  Therefore, those who come in contact with them walk away as empty as they arrived.  They may think they found nourishment until it is put to the test of time and learn they were handed words that vaporize before them.  And they starve because no one fed them with sound doctrine which is our bread of life (1 Corinthians 2).

Prayer: Father, you have told us to preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine and to give your Word to all who will listen.  LORD, if we have been guilty of starving ourselves or those among us, teach us to come to your Word and drink from its fountains and eat from its rich pasture so that we will be filled with wisdom and understanding.  LORD, as we go about our day, show us the lives that are starving and if we look into the mirror and see that our own reflection is in need, pierce our hearts and help us to be nourished with your Word.  LORD, thank you for the freedom to share, to read, and to live your Word.  We pray for those who are persecuted daily for their walk before you; we pray for those who preach in the midst of the enemy; and we pray for those imprisoned who have shared your Truth.  Thank you for their faithful example to feed the hungry souls among them.  We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

Abiding Still,
