Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

M.O.M.’s Mailbox- What about Santa?

santa-claus-arrivedQuestion: It is obvious that your children know the meaning of Christmas but my question for you is what have you taught them about Santa Clause & how they are to relate to the world and other children on this subject?

Answer: In our home telling the Truth is a fundamental part of our relationship with one another. I have told the story in pasts posts about my discovery that Santa was not real and how it made me question if perhaps my parents had lied about Jesus too just to keep me good all the rest of the year.  That doesn’t mean that we tell our children that Santa is evil or that others are sinning by telling their children about Santa. Others may feel it is nothing more than a playful activity this time of year that holds many fond memories for themselves when they were growing up. Therefore, what we have told our children is about the true story of a man named Saint Nick, how the tradition of Santa clause started and why we want to make sure our focus is on the real gift of Christmas, Jesus. We encourage them to always show love and be kind to others that don’t do things like we do. We talk with them from time to time about not saying something that would offend another family. We’ve never had an issue with one of the children causing strife or saying something out of turn regarding Santa, thus far. I am thankful for the grace that He has given us through the years. I know this can be a challenge this time of year. I remember the challenge especially when my children were younger. May the Lord lead you perfectly as you desire to please Him!

With much love,

Mrs. Joseph Wood
