Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment with M.O.M.- Proverbs 24: 11- The charge to care…

Proverbs 24:11-12 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain, If thou sayest, Behold we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it: and He that keepeth thy soul doth not He know it: and shall not He render to every man according to his works?

This week the Lord has been speaking to us about the charge He has given each of us to care for others. The poor, the fatherless, and now those that are “ready to be slain”. We should remember the unborn children, the elderly, and the handicap as we read this passage. Our society wants us to believe that certain lives have value and others do not. They want us to feel the ‘freedom’ to end someone’s suffering and try to convince us that “it’s okay” to rid ourselves of someone that may be a “burden” to us or society as a whole. When I consider their arrogance to preach such lies, I am reminded of  the Scripture that says, “The mercies of the wicked are cruel” (Proverbs 12: 10). There is a battle for life taking place in our society today. As the Church we must stand against these lies that are preached as “rights” or “assisting” to end the pain of others. We are warned against turning the other way and pretending we knew nothing about it. We can’t excuse away the reality of what our society is doing to devalue the life of the unborn, elderly, or handicap. For we must remember we have been given a charge to be their voice, to deliver them that are drawn unto death least God, who keeps our soul, knows it and renders unto us the works of our hands!

Consider this week how God would have you to be a voice for the weak, to extend your hand to the poor, to defend the fatherless and to deliver those that are “ready to be slain”. I believe God can do great and mighty things through His people if we will simply be strong and of good courage to do all He has commanded!

With much love,
Mrs. Joseph Wood
