Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs- Proverbs 10: 24

Proverbs 10:24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

This passage reminds of the Proverbs that talks about how the wicked flee when no one purseth (Proverbs 28:1). The wicked  have just cause to run when no one pursue for here they are told that their fears will come upon them. The wicked do not have the assurance of the blessings of the Lord and therefore have just cause to run at the first appearance of harm (even when no harm is near). When we fail to obey His commands we can not expect His peace that passes all understanding to reside with us.  “The desire of the righteous shall be granted” what a wonderful reminder for each of us that chose to seek His will in our lives and obey His commands. If HE is our desire we can have full confidence that our desires will be given unto us. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Where is your desire? Is it in Him or in things, position at work, church or in your community? Do you long for Him more than anything else through your day or do you find your thoughts consumed with other temporal desires? Keep your desire fixed on Him for there lies a great hope and confidence.

Prayer: Lord be merciful to those that have yet to surrender to your commands. Forgive us for every placing any desire above our desire for you. Create in us a hunger and thirst for you that can not be quenched by anything other than your presence. In Jesus Name we pray.. amen!

Because of His Love,

Mrs. Joseph Wood

  1. We are human so that is obviously why ... but it boggles my mind that we would even think to put anything above God.

  2. I find it hard to find the right words to say it but here goes; I desire God above all, when I stop to think about it I truly want Him above all and I know that all is from Him, however, my thoughts are generally consummed by the day to day-I wish there was a magic wand that I could wave and instantly become the person that can always be able to renew their mind in Christ!

  3. I really understand Courtney! He is my desire and yet I too have days full of distractions that I must wade through. He is faithful to lead us gently. I have found that posting Scripture in heavy activity spots in my home helps me "see" him and reflect back on His purpose for my life. I also recall the passages that I have memorized and recite them as I lie down at night. Do you memorize Scripture? That is one way that we can wade through the distractions and keep Him as our focus...
    With much love,

  4. There are a few verses that I have memorized, like Phil. 4:6-7 and 4:13; that is something I have felt wieghing upon me to do more of. When I was carrying my son I had dreadful nightmares (a bad time in my life) and I used to recite the parable of the sower until I fell asleep, it is a great comfort to have His words with me (and in us all!).
