Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment with M.O.M.- God is in control

“God is in control”. These are the words I heard from my precious Auntie last week. My uncle passed away over two years ago and the pain is still deep. As we talked she said, “You know Jeanette the only thing that gets me through is knowing that God is in control”.  As I listened to her share I heard the heartbreak, the complete surrender, and the dying of “self”. The part of us that says, “I don’t understand the whys and I’m tired of trying too.”  As I listened, I prayed and without any thought, it was if the Lord filled my mouth I said, “Aunt Carol I believe the comfort comes not from just the knowledge that God is in control rather in knowing that the God who is in control LOVES us passionately! That’s what brings me great comfort!” We talked more, shared the Word, shared of His faithfulness to use such vessels as us, and were humbled as we considered His ability to turn ashes into beauty! As we ended our conversation I said, “You know Aunt Carol, you and I understand things from the heart of a mother. If we had a child who was going out for the team, we would make sure they had everything they needed. We would provide uniforms, safety equipment, water bottles, extra coaching, whatever it took to help them be the best they could be we would make sure they had it. We would equip them with everything they needed to be the star! Well, God’s love is so much greater than ours. His resources are unlimited and His ability to provide all we need for our circumstances is above our own. This God who is in control, who loves us passionately, has and will continue to provide all we need so we too can be a star!”
Ladies, this journey has hardships, trials, and pain. We can’t escape those moments. However, we do have the confidence that one day there will be no more sorrow! We have the confidence that this God who is in control LOVES us! Have you really thought about that? How would it change your life if you lived out that realization? May we all put aside those feelings of lack and inadequacies and instead show up on game day ready to shine!!
With much love,
Mrs. Joseph Wood

  1. Thank you for these words today. Yesterday morning I attended the funeral of a close friend's baby. It was heart wrenching. It's ironic you wrote on this today. Very comforting. Thank you.

  2. Courtney, I know the pain. To say I am sorry for the heart ache that has come does not fully express my heart. I will be praying for the Lord to show you how to be His Hands and His Voice in this time of sorrow. Our God is sovereign. We will continue to trust Him.

  3. Thank you so very much for sharing these words today. I really needed to hear them. About a year ago my husband was diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinsons (at age 39). It has been a tough year for us, alot of fear and uncertainity. I really needed to hear that God loves us passionately- sometimes it is a hard concept to understand.
Thank you and may God bless you,
    Lisa :O)

  4. God is with us every step of the way - yet sometimes we fail to notice until we have reached the extremes. When I fear and feel that all is lost, it is then that I have been forced to recognize that God is in control. That which often eluded me was the recognition that first and foremost, He loves me. But, because of the lessons learned in trial - I am now more exquisitely aware of His love than I have ever been.

  5. Bless you for this post today. It was such a lovely reminder of where we need to turn FIRST, not as an after-thought. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
