Good Morning Friends!
The Wood family breakfast this morning consisted of “green drinks”, sliced cantaloupe, and cream cheese on a whole wheat bagel. It was truly a revitalizing and delicious meal to start the day with! If you're like me and you didn’t grow up drinking “green drinks” they can be a tad intimidating. For our family, we try to implement a change in the menu slowly and with conversation instead of with surprise. We’ve found that if we discuss it, try it out in small quantities and then faithfully add it to our daily menu we will have a successful menu change. If you’ve never prepared a “green drink” for yourself or your family, give it a try! This recipe leaves you feeling revitalized and refreshed. I just love the addition of peppermint! Be creative as this recipe can be altered in a variety of ways. Most of all, enjoy healthy lifestyle changes for you and your family!
With much love,
Mrs. Joseph Wood
1/2 a head of leaf lettuce
4-5 leaves of Kale
4-5 leaves of Chard
large handful of carrot tops
large handful of parsley
handful of peppermint
1 cup of apple juice
1/2 cup of pineapple juice
Directions: Wash and cut all produce. Add apple juice into your mixer then fill with as much of your produce as will fit loosely. Begin to blend slowly working up to full speed. Add more produce until it is all in the mixer. Blend well. At the end add your pineapple juice being careful not to over mix and make to much froth. If you find that your drink has too much foam lessen the amount of juice you blend with at first to prevent this.
Wow! I picked the right time to visit! :) Just kidding. Kind of...LOL
