Lambs are born!
Monday we had a set of triplets born, and tonight we had a set of twins born. We have seven ewes all together that will lamb this year. We plan to keep the girls to grow our herd and the boys will be used for our families meat. In fact, when the babies were born, Ezekiel exclaimed, "YES! Mocha (the momma ewe) gave us two dinners!"
Isn’t it just adorable how the three lambs are nursing off their momma? She is so patient with them.
Joe and the boys made some birthing pens in the barn so the animals could have time away from the herd when they were kidding or lambing. These are proving to be such a neat tool on the farm! We have a large barn that is a blessing for an active farm like ours however, we have learned that we need to do some adjustments so that it can meet all the demands of a robust farm. The guys have all been working so hard on this project.
Here’s a photo of the birthing stalls that all the boys are working on:

They are precious! How old will they be when you 'process' them?
