Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in M.O.M.'s Kitchen- Popcorn

Last night Jed, Bekah and I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning painting the home. It was an important time to accomplish as much as we could with all the little ones fast asleep. Bekah requested some popcorn and Jed started sharing how his friends thought our popcorn was the best. I am not sure what we do that is so different than others except the oil we use. We enjoy the many health properties of Coconut Oil, it is my main oil of use here in our home. Popcorn is a frequent snack and treat in our home. On special occasions my Joe will make his recipe of his caramel popcorn. I have posted that in the past here on the Blog.  Enjoy!

Popcorn

Large stock pan
1/4 popcorn
2 heaping Tbs of Coconut oil
Sea Salt

Heat your oil, then add your popcorn. As it pops make sure you lift the lid to let the steam out from time to time. I have found this keeps it from becoming "rubbery".  Shake  periodically till popping slows down. I normally call it done once I can't count to three in between the pops. Then sprinkle with some sea salt and put in bowls for the family to enjoy. At times I have to make a few recipes to feed my hungry troops!

We get our Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions. If you would like to learn more you can visit their site at: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/what_is_virgin_coconut_oil.htm

Have a wonderful weekend with  your families friends! I will probably be finishing up painting here in the house and enjoying popcorn at story time with the children!

  1. I have never made popcorn in a pot nor have I EVER seen it done - is that not crazy. We had a popcorn popper growing up and now we use the microwave. But I think the kids would find this method fun. I'm gonna need to try this some time! Thanks for the idea!

  2. My husband has a special caramel corn recipe too- how funny! He is also the one that taught me to make popcorn the "real" way which we all now think is the best way!
