Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment with M.O.M.- Girlhood Days

Proverbs 12: 4 “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.”

Glorious girlhood days prepare all the “little princesses” in the world to grow up to be a crown to their husband. These days do not neglect the cherished moments of dolls and daisy chains yet, equally give attention to the spiritual, mental, and physical growth needed to become a virtuous woman.

The above statement can be hard for many to swallow. The world’s social opinion screams that there is more to being a “girl” than “just being a wife and mommy.” Yet, have you noticed that many women are rejecting the lies that have been force fed for generations before them? They are fulfilling the hearts cry to return to their homes as a “crown unto their husband.” These same women are prayerfully and earnestly seeking to grow their daughters in the wisdom of the Word. Teaching their daughters to understand the ministry of womanhood. Daughters are assisting their mothers in ministering to their fathers. They are living the example of a ‘virtuous’ woman to their brothers. Sitting around idling waiting for some young man to whisk them away is NOT what they are doing! They are active in the home serving where God has placed them! They are daughters who have done well!

The question I am often asked is, “What do I teach my daughter?” and “How do I teach my daughter?”  Since this can be such a hard concept to wrap our thoughts around. I thought I would simply state a few practical things I can think of quickly and show a picture of some of the “Glorious Girlhood Days” in the Wood household! ENJOY!

  • From the time my babies are born they are with me doing whatever it is I am doing. If I am doing dishes, they are in a sling, or the sink, while I do dishes. From there they grow to be on a stepping stool along side me as I wash dishes until finally the beg me to “let” them take over and do the dishes.
  • I display an outward respect for my husbands that the girls (actually all the children) can see. My children have always heard me say, “Let’s ask your daddy. He is so wise.” I never speak poorly of him yet am always “real” about him. He is a man… a human.. who needs his wife and children praying for him.
  • I encourage love and respect for their siblings so that healthy relationships are established with their brothers and sisters.
  • I cultivate a love for the Creator by tender care of His creation.
  • Daily I bridle my tongue and teach my girls to do so likewise.

I love to created bubble bath moments with candies for the girls. Tea parties out on the picnic blanket under the big oak tree. Playing with dolls, baking with mommy. All the activity of girlhood days are cherished. These little girls grow up to be beautiful women because their hearts radiate as Children of the King!

  1. Thanks so much for this post. This is my heart's cry for my daughters, but I find that so few women today share my passion. Too many women have bought into the world's philosophy. Thank you for the encouragement that you are!

  2. I love how you put this!!! Beautiful! My heart cries out to God for the wisdom for how to pass this on to my new daughter who came into my life at the age of 14, last year. We don't see her very often and she has begun to be drawn into the world's views of what it means to enjoy every day without doing anything constructive sitting on the computer with friends all day or other forms of socializing without any desire to learn to serve in her home. It saddens my heart. I have been praying for her so much lately...and you just answered one of my prayers...I need to keep her with me while she is with us...have her at my side until she grows to love what we are called to be and do as Godly Women...wives and mothers.

Thank you for this post...I am bookmarking it and returning to it for inspiration. Thank you!! I would treasure your prayers on this challenge.

God bless you and your lovely daughters!
