Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs- Proverbs 21:30-31

Proverbs 21:30-31, “There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD. The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.”

Friends, the LORD’s counsel to me this week has been about relationships, conflict, resolution, restoration, discipline, encouragement and seeking God.  As we close this week, I’d like to reflect on something that touches many homes across the world; Rebellion, Jealousy, Spite, Hatred, Conflict and Brokenness.  Each of these is the enemy of our families.  Many families are broken because of the rebellion of father, mother, daughter or son and it should not be so.  Yet, it is happening everyday!

Families are found in ruin because they’ve been called to battle and they were not prepared.  They did not train up their children for God and now their children have turned against them.  They did not reckon with the rebellion at the time, no discipline was given and the price is steep as mothers and fathers weep at night over their lost and hurting children.

Families are broken as the children become adults; as they take wings and set their self above their parents because they are filled with pride and do not want to hear truth.  They have refused the love and wisdom of their parents and they have listened to the lies of the world and have become independent, unyielding and have set their hearts against their parents.

Many parents look at each other and no longer find love in the eyes of the one they married; they have become torn because of the unchecked sins that were allowed to fester and the rebellion that wrecked havoc on the family.

We must always be prepared for the attack of our adversary, but we must remember that our safety and our strength are in the LORD.  We can do nothing of ourselves.  All the wisdom, understanding and counsel offered by this world are nothing without God!

God is able to restore and He is faithful to chastise those He loves.  Let us come before Him, in whatever situation we are facing and ask Him to reveal the truth to us about ourselves and those we are concerned for.  Then, trust Him; seek Him; listen to His Word; meditate upon Him; and pray believing!

Prayer:  Father, if you chose to shut the heavens, there would be no rain and if you commanded the locust to devour our land, it would be so; but Father, you have promised us if we come before you in humility, pray, seek after you and turn from our sin; you will hear us, you will forgive us and you will heal us.  LORD, there are many families in need of healing.  The adversary has stolen their relationships and their homes are torn because of it.  LORD, heal your people as they humble their hearts before you.  And cause them to seek truth.  Father, you are gracious to the broken hearted and your hands are extended to those who seek you.  LORD, hear your people and heal their families.  In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
