Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs - Proverbs 6: 16-19 The Seven Things God Hates..

Proverbs 6: 16-19
These six things doth the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him; A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that will be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethern.

Do you know the seven things that God hates? Do you hate the things that God hates? The Scriptures tell us that if we love God we will hate evil (Psalm 97:10). When we love God we hate everything that is against God. If you love God you hate satan, if you love truth you hate lies and so forth. In order for us to thrive spiritually we must examine our own personal lives and begin the process of repentance, by His grace, from the sins that have taken root in our lives. Let us take a look at each of these seven things God hates:

A Proud Look: When pride resides in the heart it is seen in the eyes. Pride is the sin of exalting oneself. Thinking that you're better, know better, would NEVER do what "so and so" does. Pride is the sin that keeps us from repentance and gives us excuses for our sin but not others. Pride was there when satan exalted himself up against God. Pride is most often at the root of each sin when we evaluate the motives behind the sin.

A Lying Tongue: Lying unravels the very fibers of our relationship with God and others.

Hands that Shed Innocent Blood:
We can all agree that murder, the shedding of innocent blood, is evil. Yet how many of us in the Church have this issue totally confused by the climate of our culture? Let me give you a few examples: The death penalty IS NOT murder, it IS NOT the shedding of innocent blood. Abortion is not a choice it IS the shedding of innocent blood, euthanasia is not mercy it IS murder! I know these are "hot topics" for people but the truth is that we must stop looking at the law of God through the spectacles of our culture or we will never be able to please Him!

A Heart that Deviseth Wicked Imaginations:
Have you ever thought about doing evil to someone? In your anger have you ever thought, "I should do this..." or "I hope this happens to you.."? God hates for our thoughts to be given over to wicked imaginations! He wants us to set our hearts on pondering what is pure, lovely and a good report (Philippians 4:8). God made it clear when Jesus came and lived among us that sin was not merely our actions but our thoughts!

Feet that will be Swift in Running to Mischief: When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior we are no longer quick to run to do evil. We may fall but we will arise, we may stumble but He will lift us back up. We consider our ways to see if they be pleasing to Him or not. We no longer make haste in our actions for we know the danger that awaits hastily spoken words or deeds!

A False Witness that Speaketh Lies: This is different than just the act of lying that God mentioned as previously. This is the act of lying or withholding truth in order to blame someone else. This would be the act of withholding Truth to obstruct justice or the act of distorting truth to hide your own actions or motives. It is the act of speaking what we do not know as well as not speaking what we do know!

Soweth Discord Among Brethern: Causing strife within your family, church or community is sin! God wants us to seek after peace in fact, we are told to pursue it (Psalm 34:10) I am sure we've all met people that just seem to cause strife no matter where they go. We don't want to give the enemy any room to cause discord among us and should never listen as someone rants or gossips about another. Let us seek peace, pursue it, fight for it, apply our every fiber of strength to have peace within our households, Churches and community!

May we each love what God loves and hate what God hates! I encourage each of you to take time to memorize the seven things God hates. The Scriptures tell us that we hid His Word in our heart so that we might not sin against Him! (Psalm 119:11)

Prayer: Father we thank you for being a God that shares your heart with your people. Thank you for telling us how to live, how to act and what pleases you and what doesn't! Lord help each of us to evaluate our own lives for these sins that can so easily take root in our lives. We thank you for offering us Salvation and forgiveness from our sin and ask that you would give us the strength to turn from any thoughts, words or deeds that do not please you! In Jesus Name we pray... amen!

Because of His Love,
