Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs- Proverbs 18:10

Proverbs 18:10, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

Here we have a statement of God’s sufficiency! As you ponder the picture of this scripture, do you see a lighthouse or a fortress tower? For me, it has always been a lighthouse that would lead the way even in the darkness for the traveler to find refuge. But a fortress tower is a good example of this passage too; for in a fortress, it is a strong foothold against the enemy. We can turn to our LORD no matter how He presents Himself, either as a Fortress Tower or a Lighthouse, and we can rest in Him as our sanctuary in times of turmoil. God makes Himself and all of His blessings, mercy and grace available to us; all we need to do is run to Him! Even as we are faced with personal battles, we are made confident in our LORD to be before us and behind us; always providing the resources for protection, endurance and faith. We do not face anything alone, for He is always with us. The LORD is our Rock and we can put our trust in Him; He is our shield and we are defended; His is our salvation and we are freed from sin’s grip; He is our refuge in our darkest hours.

  1. This week the message for me has been protection, peace, and refuge. A while back the children were counting how many times I had read the book of Proverbs.. it's been 227 times! Yet each time I learn something, I can apply something and I need just what He's speaking to my heart at that moment. It's no accident that this week has offered the message it has. It has kept me slow to speak, considering my ways and finding refuge in HIM no matter what "people" or "life events" were doing! I am so thankful that He does not change! He will remain ever faithful as our refuge and strength!!

  2. I love this. Really love it. But for whatever reason, I don't think of a strong tower, even though that's what it says. I just think of somewhere to run where I can hide in His arms and be safe. He will fight all of my battles for me as I simply hold on tight, close my eyes, and trust. As long as I am holding tightly to Him, he wraps his protective arms around me and will take care of the battle.

  3. I really like the image of His tower being a lighthouse. I really like this message as I have been growing in God a lot - and the devil is trying to take that away. God is a strong tower that I can run to and be safe!!
