Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

A Moment in Proverbs- Proverbs 16:7

Proverbs 16:7, “When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

Very clearly, we can say, “If God is for us, who can be against us”. As we walk worthy of the LORD
to please Him; He will make us fruitful in all of our dealings. We will gain spiritual wisdom and understanding and we will learn to make peace with those around us (see Colossians 1:9-11).

It does not mean that we will compromise ourselves or our beliefs to have peace with our enemies, but we will have the wisdom to bring peace to the table of our conversation with even our enemies. God is the one who controls the heart of kings and as King David wrote: “He prepares a table before mine enemies.” The LORD will strengthen us, He will equip us and He will teach us those things we have yet to learn. We have this promise in Psalms 84:11, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”

Abiding Still

  1. This passage is something I recall often in times of conflict. In fact, I use it often to evaluate my life and had such moments of prayer just recently. It says "WHEN" a man's ways please the Lord then He makes even his enemies be at peace with him. When there are troubles with others instead of automatically thinking, "I'm right" or "I'm justified" I evaluate IF my ways please HIM? I'm not thinking of what they did, I'm thinking of what I did, am doing, and am about to do! There are times that God will call us to speak Truth and it may not be received by the other person favorably however, our attention is not on their reaction but on our obedience. We must consider our ways, evaluate each thought, deed and word of OURS to make sure that our ways please the Lord.

  2. Awesome! Thanks for sharing The Word!

  3. i read this chapter this morning :) I really liked the fact that it said at least 3 times that we can make plans, but only God can make them happen.
I really like the point you have made here as well :). I went through this situation with 2 girls last month. They did something that ((really)) hurt me - and I went to them to offer my forgiveness. The one asked me how I was doing so well and I was able to tell her about God. God is good :)

  4. This is so right on! I have to remind myself regularly that I need to look at what I am doing...what I am saying...and evaluate whether how I am handling things is how God would have me handle them. I was just talking with our son about this very topic tonight.

We are working on responding as God would have us respond and not react as our "emotions" may lead us to do. And how God cannot bless what we do when we react and that He cares about how we handle even little things.

Thank you for sharing! I will have to share these verses with him in the morning...he is really struggling with this area. I am working on doing better at looking at how I handle things and going back and apologizing when I need to for how I reacted instead of responding to his behavior. I am using those moments as teachable moments. Bit by bit we are planting seeds.

    Have a great night!
