Proverbs 14: 26 “In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.”
Building a relationship with the LORD is our focus today. When we have a relationship with someone we put confidence in them as someone with whom we’re willing to share our inner most life. Think on the building blocks of developing a relationship. It begins with meeting, trusting, growing, and finally loving. With God, there is one final step; reverencing Him. Reverence of God takes all the other steps and adds respect, worship, awe, adoration and often times amazement at His work in our lives. We learn through His work that we can have a strong confidence and a refuge in Him.
I love the passage in Psalms 18:2 that says the “LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” The progression of a relationship with our Lord, leads us to a strong confidence that no matter what we face; questions from children, questions from authority, questions from life; no matter what we face; we will have the answers to life in His Word; we will find refuge.
Abiding Still
Well put!!! I am reading my way through Proverbs right now, and this message is so important. God is not something to be thought of in passing or once in a while, he should be thought of deeply, all the time, the way we do of those we are very close to because really, who could we possibly be closer to?! Great post!
