Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.

Real Moments with M.O.M.- Joe is now self employed

The house is buzzing this morning as we prepare to take my Joe to catch his flight for OR. Today we begin the journey of self employment. Joe has owned his own truck, many years ago however, we went into it without our parents blessings and what a mess it was. By the time we were done with that adventure we had the engine blow out, an empty bank account, countless stories of being broke down, and enormous frustration that kept us from every wanting to own a big rig again!

15 years after that experience here we are, purchasing a big rig to work for ourselves. This time things are different. This time, God called us here instead of us going and calling on God afterwards. Mom and Dad have given us their blessing and the doors have opened for Joe to have a two dedicated runs limiting the amount of back hauls that are needed. It’s a new experience and I don’t do good with change. I like things to stay the same and yet, God doesn’t want us to stay the same does He? He is always leading us to trust Him! I have no idea what lays ahead except that I am a child of the King, that He loves us, cares for us, and provides for us! Unlike the first time, 15 years ago, we can confidently say: “I am right where God wants us!” In that I find great peace!

Is God leading you someplace that your flesh finds scary? I do understand the feelings. Trust the Lord, be obedient to His calling and not your own desires of comfort. He wants to show Himself to you as Strong and Mighty! Truly, one day where He is, where He leads, is better than a 1000 days elsewhere!

Psa 84:10

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

With much love,

Mrs. Joseph Wood

  1. OH my word! I wrote on the exact topic today!!! http://womenlivingwell-courtney.blogspot.com/2010/07/following-your-husbands-vision.html

I even wrote about how scary it is to follow my man!!! He does take me on roller coaster rides regularly!!! Yours does too I see lol!!!

Hang on for the ride!!! Know you are safe in God's hands. May God bless his new path...we did this three years ago - went out on our "own" - I cried a bit - change is hard. But now - it's our new normal and I love it!

Hang in there girl- it's my turn to be praying for your family! I'm so honored to be praying for Joe today!

    Love you and your family,
    Courtney

  2. Congratulations!!! How wonderful and how scary at the same time! I can so relate...God has been leading us to make so many changes in this last year but every one of the ones that we followed Him on has been followed by amazing and beautiful gifts/blessings. Sometimes its really hard but when I let him take that steering wheel the trip He takes us on His filled with miracles and blessings that are God sized! :-)

    Praying for your new adventure!!!

  3. Thank you Courtney and Mary Joy!

And yes, it is a ride sometimes isn't it?! I praise God that He is more interested with my transformation than my comfort. We KNOW we are safe where He leads us don't we ladies?!
Thank you again for your prayers!

  4. Congratulations brother Joe. Step out in faith. I'm praying for you all. I can't wait to see your schedule. Perhaps sometimes if I'm on I-5 we can connect. We go to Redding. Ca once or twice a year. Just got back from 12 days of camping with 600 families from our church. It was such a delight. Steve worked public safety and I did crafts in primary division.Joe let me know if and when you get a computer in your truck and give me the address please.
